Job Summary/Purpose

This is a temporary position lasting approximately 6 months. The Lowvelo Rider Recruitment position requires a dedicated, detail oriented, relationship builder to make a significant impact at HCC and on our fundraising goals. A positive disposition is paramount, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to excel both independently and as part of a team. 

This position is responsible for the recruitment of bike riders to the HCC Bike Ride from local entities including companies, civic organizations, schools, neighborhoods, bike clubs and bike shops.

The Rider Recruitment Coordinator will be expected to develop relationships with prospects by working with community leaders, local university representatives, and funding partners. H/She will work closely with community partners, vendors, associates, and customers to develop bike teams.

This position will also work closely with team captains to expand ride participation of existing teams while encouraging a “break off” mentality for creating new teams. The aggregate of this strategy results in a comprehensive community wide recruiting effort.  

Responsibilities will include recruiting, training and inspiring riders.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Friendly and patient demeanor while providing accurate brand message
  • Excellent time management skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Strong verbal communication skills as well as a positive phone and face-to-face manner
  • Follow up skills to ensure accountability
  • Possesses a “close the deal mentality”.

Minimum Training and Education:

Three  + years of related event experience; experience with fundraising success with corporate partners in a nonprofit, corporate or foundation environment; demonstrated ability to independently develop relationships; ability to work with outside volunteers/donors to  support peer to peer fundraising efforts; ability to motivate people in to action; knowledge of  marketing large scale sporting/fundraising events is a plus; experience with peer to peer fundraising software and campaigns; strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:  

Recruitment Strategy 35%

Recruit new riders by capitalizing on partnerships and relationships of funding partners, community leaders, business relationships, and other prospects. Utilize these relationships to make a leveraged brand right recruiting effort. Strategic approach involves segmenting the market into individual prospects. Encourage organizations to form teams. Establish “Champions” at each prospective organization. Establish relationship and rider goals with organization’s Champion to ensure positive recruitment result. Develop events to promote rider and volunteer recruitment.

Rider Recruitment Training 35%
Coordinate visits and schedules for HCC leadership and consultants to participate in rider recruitment efforts. Manage the organization of bike ride team meetings. Field telephone and email inquiries regarding the ride. Ensure every participant can successfully achieve his or her fundraising goal through training, support and encouragement.

Recruitment Reporting 30%
Develop and maintain comprehensive spreadsheets that tracks development to goal progress. Document communication and progress with each relationship/organization. Present recruitment appointments weekly to leadership. Report progress each week to leadership.

Physical Requirements:  Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.  Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 25 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 25 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.  Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
