Job Duties:
10Communicates effectively with passengers and customers regarding transportation services/schedules.Essential
10Maintain records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents and unusual occurrences.Essential
10Operates communication equipment in a professional manner.Essential
10Performs operator’s pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as necessary. Properly identify and diagnose issues before they disable a vehicle. Be familiar with the equipment operated and able to isolate and remedy issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator’s responsibilities.Essential
10Responsible for fueling and cleaning of vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming and washing, in all weather conditionsEssential
10Responsible for substituting for other drivers in their absence.Essential
10Will board and discharge passengers with concern and consideration in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all passengers are safely situated before departures, seated when possible.Essential

Job summary:

Under general supervision, the Shuttle Driver assists with the movement of faculty, staff, and students from outlying areas to locations within the MUSC campus.

Required Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Class B CDL

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Must be able to safely operate all types of motor vehicles including: buses, cars, trucks and vans. Must be able to perform cleaning/maintenance duties in all weather conditions and lift and move heavy objects such as mop/bucket, vacuum cleaner, etc. Requires sitting 80% of the time. Must be able to climb stairs, communicate effectively and work efficiently under stress. Must have current, valid SC Commercial Driver's License w/Passenger/Air Brake Endorsements and copy of ten year driving record from DMV.

Must be able to work independently and follow instructions of supervisor and adhere to all departmental, institution and state policies. Receives general supervision, but should be able to complete duties on own initiative without daily instructions, especially regarding condition and appearance of vehicle.


Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 3: $22,182.00 - $31,614.00 - $41,046.00 (min - mid - max)


FLSA: Hourly


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A high school diploma and one year experience in truck driving, operating a crane or operating a motor vehicle.
