Job summary: The Department of Anesthesia is recruiting for a Research Nurse II position to provide leadership and direction to research staff and other personnel in patient care, education and coordination of services associated with research in Anesthesia.

DUTIES:

35% - Develop, coordinate, supervise and execute research and administrative activities of all research studies conducted by principal investigators (PIs) in Anesthesia. This includes, but not limited to, Human Factors Research, Laboratory Research, Corporate Sponsored Studies, Multi Center Studies, departmental funded clinical projects, and collaborative efforts involving the Protocol Review Committee at Hollings Cancer Center.

Coordinate with OCR/Billing Compliance - Prospective Reimbursement Analysis (PRA) to assess permitted charges in research projects.

Coordinates data pulls with the data warehouse via SPARC request and consultation with analyst at Biomedical Informatics Center | SCTR Institute.

Prepare Data Safety Monitoring Reports and submit to the IRB per protocol.

35% - Serve as liaison with Institutional Review Board (IRB) regarding all communications and project submittals.

Develop and communicate guidelines in the collection of clinical data and/or administration of clinical studies. Confer with professional staff involved in data collection, analysis and execution of studies to ensure compliance with protocol guidelines and adherence to requirements of regulatory agencies. Review study files to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

Collaborate with PI in developing plans for research projects and discuss interpretation of results. Prepare, recommend and submit amendments to protocols and/or modifications to study designs as appropriate. Negotiate protocol changes with funding agencies as appropriate.

25% - Recruit, manage, evaluate and mentor research program assistants. Assist them in identifying opportunities for publications and developing their clinical experience by coordinating surgery shadowing, rounding with the hospital teams in areas of interest, view autopsies, etc.

Review and supervise activities performed by subordinates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects, as well as collection, compilation, documentation and analysis of research data.

Facilitate Medical Student and Master in Clinical Research Student projects in Anesthesia research; coordinate research projects for FAER (Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research) students.

Coordinate monthly Departmental Research Meeting and arrange presentations.

Help to assemble and coordinate interdepartmental Data Safety Monitoring Board Meetings with Anesthesia and Public Health (Statistics).

Participate in leadership activities within the department to include, but not limited to, leader lunches and annual leadership retreats.

5% - Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.


Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 7: $48,622.00 - $69,289.00 - $89,956.00 (min - mid - max)

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year related nursing experience. Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or certification in Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
