Job Summary/Purpose: The Project Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager in Hospital Fiscal Services and performs complex professional accounting duties related to MUHA’s major growth projects, including capital projects, joint ventures, partnerships and collaboration. This position monitors and interprets accounting literature to ensure that MUHA’s related accounting policies and treatments are in compliance with GAAP, GASB and other state and federal regulations. This position performs other duties that require analysis of complex accounting, audit and financial reporting issues, and includes the interim and fiscal year-end financial reporting and audit for responsible areas.

Minimum Training and Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and four (4) years work experience in accounting and/or auditing. Strong analytical, research, communication and teamwork skills, ability to meet deadlines, a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Outlook software; Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat software is a plus.

Preferred: A bachelor's degree in accounting with hospital/healthcare based work experience; MBA, MHA, CPA or CHFP designation a plus.
