Job summary:

This is a full-time faculty position (non-tenure without doctorate or on tenure track if the applicant has a doctorate in nursing)in the College of Nursing. Responsibilities include curriculum/program planning, facilitating and implementing innovative teaching strategies, scholarship, and clinical practice in area of expertise (foundations/fundamentals courses). The NURSU 461 Foundations and Gerontological Nursing course introduces 1st semester nursing students to the role of critical thinking and the nursing process as a mechanism to synthesize knowledge and master basic nursing skills needed to promote, maintain and restore health in adults from young through the elderly. The course will integrate nursing process, principles of communication, decision-making, and basic nursing skills necessary for applying health assessment data and pathophysiology content to the experience of health and illness of clients, diverse ethnic, cultural and geographic backgrounds. Experience in classroom as well as online teaching methods is preferred, but a motivated candidate without teaching experience who meets the educational and professional requirements will be considered.


Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.


FLSA: Salaried


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Qualifications include an earned Masters degree in Nursing, with a Doctorate in Nursing preferred. A commitment to scholarship and strong organizational and communications skills are necessary. Qualified candidates should have the following:

-Unencumbered, active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another compact state. 

-Current BLS certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network.

-Recent (2-3 years) of actual patient care of young through older adults

-Recent (2-3 years) of supervision of students in clinical settings.

-Recent (2-3 years) of course coordination, didactic teaching and test development experience.

-Demonstrated ability to create, develop and implement simulated learning modules.

-A record of teaching, scholarship and/or practice that merits appointment at the rank of Instructor or above.

Candidates without a doctorate will be considered, but will be required to be enrolled in an accredited nursing doctoral program within three years of employment.
