Job summary: Your clinical responsibilities will focus on working in providing clinical service for investigators using animals in facilities managed by the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources (DLAR) at MUSC. Your main responsibilities will be serve as a primary clinical veterinarian for laboratory animals at MUSC including providing postoperative care within the Surgical Research Laboratories managed by DLAR. You will rotate being on call for after hour service at night, on week-ends and on holidays with the other veterinarians in Comparative Medicine. You will be expected to become licensed in the State of SC, board certified in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine and to develop collaborative and/or independent research funding. You will be manager of a team of Veterinary Technician staff.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.

Physical Requirements: 

                Must be able to lift 50 lbs. above waist routinely.

                Must be able to work with animals.

                May be exposed to animal allergens.

                May be exposed to zoonotic diseases.

                Must be able to work in dusty environments.

                May have to work in wet areas.

                Must be able to properly wear DLAR issued PPE.

                Must be able to work in reverse light cycle rooms.

                May have to work in confined spaces.

                Must be able to understand safety requirements for autoclave, rack washer and tunnel washer
