Job Summary: 

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Medical University (MUSC) of South Carolina in Charleston is recruiting a new Attending Physician at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. It is an exciting time in our department with a newly appointed Chair and resources to move the department forward.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and productive physician to join our close-knit team. Our department is integrated in MUSC Health and the Hollings Cancer Center, an NCI-Designated Center, and participates in a wide variety of research endeavors including bench research, clinical trial development and accrual, as well as successful partnerships with industry bringing novel techniques to the world. There is significant flexibility for subspecialization for this position, but some interest in GU malignancies is required.

 

Current clinical faculty staffing at the main campus includes six radiation oncologists and seven radiation oncology physicists.  All physicians are based in Charleston, including the new position. In addition, we have five dosimetrists and dedicated IT support within the department.   We have an ACGME-accredited medical residency program with six residents, as well as a CAMPEP-accredited radiation oncology physics residency program with two physics residents.   Treatment equipment includes three Varian TrueBeam accelerators, one Varian 600C used solely for TBI (nearing replacement), one Tomotherapy unit (nearing replacement), and a Gamma Knife Perfexion system.  Examples of other systems include Nucletron HDR, ARIA, Velocity, Eclipse, and Variseed.  MUSC Radiation Oncology treats approximately 1,400 patients per year with mature and growing SRS, SBRT, HDR and LDR brachytherapy programs.

 

MUSC is located on the highly desirable southeast Atlantic coast in the beautiful and historic city of Charleston.
