Job Summary/Purpose:  Under limited supervision, has responsibility for monitoring the day to day activities of MUHA in furtherance of its compliance objectives. Works in conjunction with and under the supervision of the MUSC Heath Privacy Officer. 

  • Conducts HIPAA audits and responds to inquiries (PSIs, hotline, for-cause etc.). Conducts HIPAA site visits.    
  • Coordinates, develops and provides training for successful maintenance of the HIPAA Privacy program.  Assists with annual calendar of training events and ensures training modules and live presentation material are current and makes appropriate changes as necessary. 
  • Coordinates the investigation and response to reported allegations and questions, ensures completion of all necessary follow-up actions and reporting requirements. Ensures questions and allegations are logged in the matter management system.
  • Facilitates communications between areas of the organization that approach the Privacy Office.  Serves on multidisciplinary committees as needed/required.
  • Assists in updating the annual review of policies and procedures as it relates to Privacy. 
  • All other duties as assigned.      

Minimum Training and Education: A bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience, or an internal candidate with a high school diploma and at least four years of related experience. Must possess the ability to plan, organize and present ideas clearly in both oral (includes live training) and written form. Incumbent must be flexible and able to work in a varied and sometimes hectic environment.
