NEW GRADUATE NURSE RESIDENCY INTERVIEW BLITZ 

MUSC Health Charleston is hosting a New Graduate Interview Blitz for all Fall 2022 new graduates seeking future employment and participation in our Nurse Residency Program.  All interested candidates, must complete the online application and attach a resume no later than Thursday, September 1, 2022.  Please also attach your current BLS, if you have one.  

If selected for an interview, you will be contacted by a department representative to schedule a Microsoft Teams, phone or in person Interview between Thursday, September 29, 2022 - Saturday, October 1, 2022.  Please be prepared for a half-hour behavioral-based interview with Nurse Managers, unit leaders, and peer team between those dates.  We have many various service areas participating in this Hiring Event. Keep in mind, our extremely high-volume areas of interest are ER, critical care and Children's & Women's Services.  If you only select these high volume areas as your areas of interest, you may not receive an interview.  

We anticipate extending conditional offers to successful candidates starting Wednesday, October 5, 2022.  Please plan ahead, as all successful candidates must commit and complete online acceptance with 48 hours upon receipt.  All selected candidates will automatically be enrolled in our New Graduate Nurse Residency Program.  An anticipated start dates will be determined at the time a conditional offer is verbally accepted.  Graduate Nurse options are also available to successful candidates who would like to start prior to taking and passing boards.

Job Summary/Purpose: Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal-directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Minimum Training and Education:  Associates or Bachelor of Nursing degree required.  RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing, are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on the carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
