Seeking Master's prepared Child Life Specialist to provide child life services for Pediatric Emergency Department. This is part of a two person child life team that provides 10 hour shift coverage, 6 days a week. The Pediatric Emergency Department provides 24-hour care to 24,000 patients per year in our 12-bed Pediatric Unit. The child life specialist provides therapeutic play opportunities, procedural preparation and support and additional psychosocial interventions to families during times of trauma, crisis and bereavement. This position also provides some coverage to Pediatric MRI. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, possess strong leadership skills and able to supervise child life practicum students and interns. The MUSC Children's Hospital Child Life program consists of 11 full-time Child Life Specialists under the direction of the Child Life Manager. MUSC Children's Health is currently building a new Chidlren's and Women's facility which will open late fall 2019.
