With limited supervision, the Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. For each shift worked, the CSL functions as the department’s designated nurse leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL promotes Shared Governance structure and functions. The CSL assists with providing leadership presence and staff support by providing coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2 schedules.

The Patient Safety Companion reports to the Staffing Office and Hospital Supervisors to obtain unit assignments. Under general supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Safety Companion monitors the patient closely at all times and never leaves the patient alone to ensure patient safety. This role assists patients with activities of daily living and performs other general patient care duties as directed by the Registered Nurse. The Patient Safety Companion notifies the Registered Nurse immediately of any patient concerns. When not functioning as a Patient Safety Companion, this role provides clerical support for the nurse’s station as assigned.

The Vascular Sonographer I reports to the Vascular Laboratory Supervisor. Under general supervision, the Vascular Sonographer I performs high quality vascular sonography exams in a timely, caring, and professional manner in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role is responsible for identifying normal vasculature, anatomic variants, and pathologies of the Vascular system. This position must be able to adequately report exam findings, determine if additional imaging is necessary based on demonstrated variants/pathology, and create accurate, detailed preliminary reports for the reading Vascular Surgeons using established departmental criteria. The Vascular Sonographer I must demonstrate knowledge of basic ultrasound principles and physics to obtain optimal exam images. This position participates in the orientation and training of students, residents, and fellows. This role maintains a clean, safe work environment for all staff and patients and promotes an environment of teamwork at all times.
MUHA GB79 - Social Worker I (MSW) Charleston, SC, Charleston, SC-Downtown
The Social Worker (MSW) I reports to the Manager of Case Management and Care Transitions. Under guidance of Lead Social Worker, the Social Worker I (MSW) assists with coordination of the discharge process to ensure a successful transition in collaboration with the health care team to achieve targeted patient outcomes. This role completes an assessment on the patient and caregivers throughout the hospitalization and outpatient follow-up as needed. This position identifies risk factors that the patient may experience after discharge and applies discharge interventions to lower the patient risk of an undesirable event post discharge. The Social Worker (MSW) bridges the discharge to outpatient provider with the patient and caregiver to address issues and questions.

Administers appropriate anesthetics in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist in a manner consistent with standards of practice. Familiar with the use of anesthesia machines and related equipment, assist in transport of patients, maintain adequate patient records, participate in the teaching activities of the department, participate in a variety of continuing education program, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism in the performance of duties. Provide resuscitative care as indicated.
