The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Neurology seeks a qualified individual to join two other Neurohospitalists in our growing Neurohospitalist program, and provide bedside and remote care to hospitalized patients with neurologic issues. Candidates must be board-certified or eligible in Neurology and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and clinical care. Responsibilities include supervising residents and medical students on the Inpatient and Consultation Services, in addition to participating in tele-stroke and tele-general inpatient neurology services being provided to other hospitals in South Carolina. Experience as a Neurohospitalist is desirable, but not necessary. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and training. The MUSC Medical Center is a high-volume, tertiary referral center serving a large population where a broad range of common acute neurological conditions are encountered. With limited supervision, the Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. For each shift worked, the CSL functions as the department’s designated nurse leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL promotes Shared Governance structure and functions. The CSL assists with providing leadership presence and staff support by providing coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2 schedules.
