The Hollings Cancer Center infusion suite is an outpatient clinic consisting of 44 chairs. The infusion suite provides comprehensive care to patients receiving outpatient chemotherapy, blood products, and biological agents. As a National Cancer Institute, we also provide comprehensive care to patients enrolled in clinical trials. 32 chairs are dedicated to solid tumor patients, including patients from other specialty areas (i.e. neurology, rheumatology, pulmonology); 10 chairs are dedicated to patients undergoing bone marrow transplant, and 2 chairs are dedicated to patients requiring central line access prior to physician and infusion appointments. The outpatient infusion suite is open Monday through Friday from 7am until 6pm; Saturday and Sunday from 8am until 12pm. Given the specialty of populations in our care, the Hollings Cancer Center infusion suite requires nurses to be chemotherapy/biotherapy certified by the Oncology Nursing Society. Upon employment, there are multiple opportunities for nurses to obtain specialty certification in a number of areas to include oncology, bone marrow transplant, and palliative care.

The Patient Access Services Representative reports to the Patient Access Services Supervisor. Under general supervision, the Patient Access Services Representative provides high level customer service while facilitating accurate and timely completion of registration verifying and preparing all patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing to maximize payment for Hospital and Clinic services. This position reviews and verifies all payment methods available (insurance, self-pay, agency) and patient/insurance information. This role works with patients to set up payment arrangements and to arrange/apply for assistance programs. The Patient Access Services Representative assists in collecting copayments and deductibles, and solves basic billing inquiries.

The Certified Pharmacy Technician reports to the Pharmacy Coordinator. Under general supervision, the Certified Pharmacy Technician provides technical support to the drug distribution activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services. The primary roles of the technician in this area will be preparation of sterile products, inventory management, and drug delivery to patient care areas on campus.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an academically oriented Director of the Division of Hematopathology. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This individual will instruct medical students, participate in the training of pathology residents and hematology fellows, and actively participate in academic interactions of the NCI-designed Hollings Cancer Center adult and pediatric hematology malignancy and bone marrow transplant programs. This faculty member will participate in a busy hematology laboratory, which includes sections for body fluids analysis, coagulation and bone marrow and lymph node diagnostic services. The faculty member will be proficient in the use of flow cytometry, cytogenetic, and molecular techniques employed in the clinical work-up of cases. The preferred candidate will have experience in fostering collaborative relationships with clinicians and researchers as well as serving as a resource to technologists at the bench. The relative percent effort for research, teaching, administrative duties, and patient care responsibilities will be tailored to the successful applicant’s experience and career goals. The Hematopathology Division is currently staffed by three hematopathologists and offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in hematopathology. The Department also offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship training program in Molecular Genetic Pathology.
