Period of appointment
This appointment is for a fixed-term period of 4 months.
Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.
Duties
- Analyse and maintain integrity of financial reporting and business systems and tools, extracting meaningful insights and preparing reports to inform management on key performance indicators.
- Provide advice and analysis to management and staff on the Office’s financial reporting, budget, risk and compliance matters.
- Oversee statistical analysis, survey coordination, benchmarking, and reporting to provide data-driven insights for management.
- Prepare the Office’s monthly financial reports and assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements and the external audit, ensuring activities comply with professional standards.
- Prepare monthly management and leave reports with variation analysis, underpinned by reconciliations of major accounts such as debtors and work-in-progress. Prepare reports for Budget Estimates and undertake budget appropriation management and reporting.
- Act as the Office’s key contact and liaise on a day‐to‐day basis with Service Level Agreement providers and Treasury in relation to financial and budget systems, exercising initiative and judgement to ensure the Office achieves its organisational goals.
- Review and maintain the Office’s Finance Manual and associated policies and procedures to ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Represent the Office on internal and external committees and participate in relevant industry forums, reporting outcomes back to the Office as required along with the provision of recommendations to the Office’s Executive.

Performance is measured against Key Performance Indicators that are developed and agreed to for each role in the Office and documented in annual Performance Plans.
Essential qualifications and Pre-employment requirements
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following; Arson and fire setting; Violent crimes and crimes against the person; Sex-related offences; Drug and alcohol related offences; Crimes involving dishonesty; Crimes involving deception; Making false declarations; Malicious damage and destruction to property; Serious traffic offences; Crimes against public order or relating to the Administration of Law and Justice; Crimes against Executive or the Legislative Power; Crimes involving Conspiracy.

Desirable Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting or other appropriate discipline
Relevant experience in a government environment or familiarity with government processes and protocols.
Experience with TechnologyOne products, or similar systems with a strong focus on financial modules. Advanced proficiency in Excel, along with experience in data visualisation, analytics, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
