As part of 7 Tasmania News, you’ll work in a small but dynamic technical team, ensuring our nightly news runs smoothly with cutting-edge automation technology. Our Launceston office is a vibrant hub of creativity and collaboration, where we’re passionate about bringing high-quality news content to audiences across the region.
A Day in the Life
As a News Automation Pilot / Technical Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in the seamless execution of 7 Tasmania News. You’ll coordinate live broadcast control room operations, ensuring smooth integration between automation software and news production workflows.
What You’ll Be Doing

Coordinate control room functions, providing leadership and supervision of co-pilot and other technical crew.

Maintain, review, and check daily rundowns and automation functions in coordination with the line producer.

Operate and manage Mosart automation integrated with iNews and related production software such as Maestro and Quantel.

Edit video elements for daily news, including headlines, teases, and promos.

Perform and manage audio and ingest functions.
What You’ll Need

Experience working in television studio operations, preferably in live news.

Strong leadership and communication skills to manage on-air teams effectively.

High technical proficiency in broadcast systems, particularly Mosart, iNews, Quantel, and Maestro.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
