About the Program

The Inclusion Scholarship Program (ISP) is a 12 month program offered to students in their final year of university study. The ISP is aimed to encourage and assist university students who identify as a person with disability and/or a person from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background to pursue their career goals and provide alternate pathways to gain experience and employment in the following fields of study:

  • Law
  • Economics
  • Commerce
  • Science
  • Business Management
  • ICT

The successful participants will work in areas that align with their studies.

What you will do

Successful participants will experience work in areas that align with their field of studies.  Work undertaken will contribute to our goal of enabling growth and productivity for globally competitive industries and contribute to the economic wellbeing of all Australians. Your work commitment will take place during your semester breaks.

The scholarship involves a one-off payment of up to $5,000 to be used towards your educational costs. The expense must be incurred during the scholarship period (contract period) and is paid on production of a receipt(s) and successful completion of the program.


To be eligible for the ISP, applicants must be enrolled in their final year of university and demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of a career in the APS in one of the fields mentioned in the program. The applicant must identify either as a person with disability and/or from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background and meet the normal APS engagement requirements.

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

Security Clearance

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
