About the team

As part of the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, the Anti-Dumping Commission (the Commission) is responsible for administering Australia’s trade remedies system.  Specifically, the Commission undertakes complex investigations into allegations of dumping and subsidisation made by Australian Industry against overseas exporters and governments.

These investigations require the Commission to work closely with Australian manufacturers and importers, as well as foreign exporters and governments. 

The Operational Policy and Stakeholder Engagement Unit takes the lead on identifying and addressing operational policy and practice issues that directly impact investigations, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders both to provide a high standard of information and guidance on anti-dumping matters (domestic and international) and to consult with stakeholders on ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the administration of Australia’s anti-dumping system.

Our ideal candidate

To undertake this role you will be required to demonstrate that you have:

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills, including the ability to draft advice and guidance on operational policy and practice issues, speeches, presentations, briefs, media releases, articles for industry journals, social media content, and other communication materials as required
  • highly developed influencing and stakeholder engagement skills, including representing the Commission at external fora
  • well-developed capability in strategic thinking
  • strong analytical skills, policy analysis capability and research skills, including the ability to quickly acquire and apply an understanding of Australia’s legislative and policy framework in relation to trade policy and the anti‑dumping and countervailing system, as well as knowledge of Australia’s international agreement obligations and role in the WTO
  • high standards of professional and personal integrity.

What you will do

Under general direction, you will:

  • contribute to building and maintaining the Commission’s strong reputation
  • assist with case activities as required, including participating in the Virtual Quality Assurance Teams for investigations and other inquires.

Specifically, this role requires you to:

  • work closely with the Commission’s Legal and International Standards Unit to provide Investigations Units with guidance on anti-dumping policy and practice (in line with Australia’s legislation and policy, and WTO international obligations)
  • cultivate and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships
  • contribute to developing and implement the Commission’s stakeholder engagement strategies, through consultation with key stakeholders, including the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of such strategies
  • provide administrative and secretariat support for the International Trade Remedies Forum (ITRF), ITRF sub-committees, and any other fora or events as directed
  • contribute to briefing for Ministers and the Commission’s Executive
  • provide regular updates and support to the Commission’s Executive on stakeholder views, emerging issues and risks
  • assist in the continuous improvement of policy, processes and practices within the Commission
  • contribute to maintaining resource materials
  • contribute to the development and implementation of operational policy reform initiatives
  • appropriately handle a range of highly confidential trade, business and industry information
  • build and maintain networks with government, industry and international stakeholders in line with the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct and relevant departmental policies.


To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field is essential.

Security Clearance

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.


Experience in stakeholder engagement and working across multidisciplinary teams is desirable.

This recruitment process is being used to fill a current ongoing APS Level 6 positions. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing APS Level 6 vacancies should they become available within 12 months from the date advertised.

Non-ongoing opportunities may be offered for an initial period of up to 18 months with the possibility of extension (maximum 3 years).
