The College at Brockport
The Library, Information, and Technology Services organization at the College at Brockport, State University of New York, invites applications for a full-time Library Director to begin July 1st, 2019. The Director will provide leadership to and serve as the principal administrator of Drake Memorial Library. This includes responsibility for personnel, general administration, management, and budget. Reports to the Chief Information Officer.
- Provide leadership in establishing, articulating and implementing visionary goals that serve the mission of the College; engage in strategic planning and in assessing progress toward those goals.
- Lead Library efforts to provide a student-friendly environment, broad and open access to materials, and support for teaching and learning in an effective and efficient manner.
- Provide leadership and oversight of a large and complex organization; support equity, diversity, and professional development of all library faculty and staff.
- Support the development of collections and services that meet the College’s needs and enrich the wider academic community.
- Support the College’s mission to ensure the development of information literacy competencies in students.
- Develop and administer the Library’s budget and advise College administration on budgetary issues, with the goal of continued fiscal sustainability and financial solvency.
- Participate in and provide leadership in the SUNY Libraries Consortium.
- ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science by time of appointment from an accredited US Department of Education or internationally recognized college or university
- Demonstrated administrative and management experience in academic libraries with a preferred emphasis on strategic planning, budget management, and staff supervision and access
- Demonstrated knowledge of information technology as it relates to libraries and the ability to develop collaborative vision for its use
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships with various campus stakeholders, including staff, faculty, students and administrators to foster an organizational culture of collegiality and service
- Professional experience working in a library in higher education
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in open access, scholarly communication, pedagogy, and librarianship such as copyright, plagiarism, intellectual freedom, technology, and assessment
- Knowledge of collection development and knowledge of library systems
- Demonstrated inclusive and collaborative management and leadership style, including in hiring, training and evaluation of staff
- Experience managing fiscal and budgetary matters related to academic libraries
- Demonstrated professional and pedagogical commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in a student-focused and learning-centered environment.
- Demonstrated skill utilizing reason, data and facts to engage in evidence based decision-making
