Coordinator of Student Accessibility Services

The College at Brockport is accepting applications for a Student Accessibility Services Coordinator. The Student Accessibility Services Coordinator is responsible for determining and coordinating reasonable accommodations under ADA/504 laws for eligible students, supervising a Program Assistant and Secretary, and communicating with College constituents. As a member of the Academic Success Center team, the Student Accessibility Services Coordinator is expected to communicate relevant information about students registered with the office with the other members of the team to improve the Center's ability to assist each student more effectively.
- Oversees all activities in the office to ensure equal access to programs and services for students with disabilities
- Reviews documentation to determine reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities
- Conducts intake appointments for new students
- Monitors compliance of ADA/504 laws
- Confers with the Affirmative Action Office to discuss ADA related issues
- Supervises and supports Program Assistant and Secretary
- Assists with the supervision and support of student employees and interns
- Provides training to faculty and staff through CELT, classroom presentations, departmental meetings, and as requested by campus colleagues
- Collaborates with the Instructional Design Specialist to assist faculty in implementing accommodations in the classroom
- Collaborates with the Academic Success Center’s Assistive Technology Specialist to help provide the appropriate assistive technology accommodations and assistance for students
- Serves on committees and advisory boards, and participates in recruitment events
- Provides advising/coaching strategies to support students with disabilities
- Oversees assessment activities for the Student Accessibility Services Office
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university; extensive knowledge of ADA/504; demonstrated experience coordinating and/or directly implementing accommodations for students with disabilities; ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment; ability to problem solve and work under pressure; excellent communication skills with ability to work with a variety of constituents; demonstrated administrative skills including excellent organizational abilities and supervision of staff; and, demonstrated team development, organizational planning and mentoring.
Experience with assistive technology and experience working in higher education.

The Academic Success Center consists of 18 professional staff members who serve as academic advisors and learning skills professionals. Three professional staff members comprise the Student Accessibility Services team.
