Juvenile Justice Youth Mentor – Federal Work Study Fullerton
Project Rebound is a support and advocacy program that assists formerly incarcerated individuals in successfully transitioning into and through higher education. Originating at San Francisco State University and now operating across multiple California State University campuses, the program provides comprehensive support services—including academic counseling, tutoring, financial assistance, mentoring, and career guidance—to help students navigate the challenges of reentry and pursue their educational and personal goals. Project Rebound's mission is to reduce recidivism and promote social justice by empowering system-impacted individuals through access to education, community engagement, and leadership development. By fostering a supportive academic environment, Project Rebound helps transform the lives of participants while also enriching the campus community with their unique experiences and perspectives. In 2022, Project Rebound expanded its mission to support system-impacted youth through the launch of the Juvenile Justice Initiative: Dare 2 Dream in Rebound Academy. The Dare 2 Dream Program operates within custody, partnering closely with Orange County Juvenile Hall and the Youth Development Court to provide mentorship and educational guidance. Rebound Academy serves as the community-based arm of the initiative, offering holistic support to high school students and transitional-age youth who have been directly affected by the criminal justice system. Together, these programs aim to empower young people through education, advocacy, and opportunity.
