Work Schedule:

This position may involve teaching in either an on-campus classroom environment on the ECC main campus or at an off-campus clinical site. Clinical site locations and hours vary based on program need.

Rate of Pay:

Per Contact Hour

2019: Less than Master's = $830; Master's or above = $862

Job Summary:

Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's strategic goals and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Illinois with a minimum of two years nursing experience
One year of experience as a registered nurse in one or both of the following areas:
   - Teaching for an accredited nursing program
   - Caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age through employment in a nursing
facility, extended care unit, geriatrics department, chronic care unit, hospice, swing bed
unit of a hospital, or other long-term care setting
Certificate indicating successful completion of an Illinois Department of Public Health-approved Train the Trainer workshop/program

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Previous experience teaching in a nursing assistant or nursing program

Essential Duties:

Deliver Instruction

1. Conduct assigned classes and/or labs

2. Prepare lessons

3. Provide course syllabus (which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, course outline and contact information)

4. Verify student enrollment and submit grade sheets

 

If a lab is involved:

5. Prepare labs

6. Enforce lab safety procedures

 

Evaluate Student Progress

1. Keep accurate record of student performance

2. Provide students with timely feedback

 

Provide Student Assistance

1. Maintain office hours and voice-mail/e-mail communication

2. Refer students to student support services

3. Accommodate special needs students

Other Duties:
