Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing support to small business owners in the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Elgin Community College. Work is distinguished by the ability to effectively communicate information through one on one meetings, workshops and materials. General supervision is received from the Director of Continuing Education.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in business, economics or related field or a combination of education and experience.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Five years of small business management or business consulting experience preferred.
    Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide counseling to clients of the ISBDC on all business related matters.
    Evaluate the counselors, consultants and part time instructors hired to perform counseling and training services.
    Develop ISBDC budget and prepare reports as needed.
    Operate the ISBDC at ECC within the rules and regulations as identified by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant and the ISBDC Operations Manual.
    Attend meetings, conferences and trade shows as a representative of ISBDC and ECC when required.
    Market and promote the business services provided by the ISBDC at ECC.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
    Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
