Job Summary:

An employee in this classification is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty providing operational support to the Division in the areas of college and career readiness with a targeted focus on first generation and low-income populations. Work is distinguished by the ability to represent the Dean and the Division in collaboration with internal and external partners. Under general direction of the Dean.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Master’s degree in Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Considerable knowledge in developing and managing support programs for secondary or post-secondary students (equivalent of 3 years full-time)
Working skill in supervising professional level staff (2-3 years)
Considerable skill in collaborating with partners to effectively implement programming
Considerable skill in written and verbal communications.
Considerable skill to interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of various cultural backgrounds.
Considerable skill to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy
Considerable skill in collecting, interpreting and analyzing information to develop creative and innovative solutions.
Good knowledge in developing curriculum and assessing student learning.
Considerable knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Good knowledge in managing grant programs preferred.
Considerable skill in written and verbal communications in both English and Spanish preferred.

Essential Duties:

Interviews, hires and trains assigned staff; identifies and resolves employee relations and performance issues; provides appropriate leadership and direction and promotes positive morale, creativity and teamwork among staff; evaluates employee performance and sets clear goals and expectations.

Fulfill the Talent Search Transitions grant “project director” role, per grant requirements including: budget oversight, establishing and monitoring staff priorities, identifying and reporting program monitoring metrics, and coordinating the Transition Academy program.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate regional (D509) college and career readiness events/activities/professional development to support: middle and high school students and families; college and school personnel; and community agencies. Examples of programming include: First Lecture, Middle School Fridays, PLANS, college and career planning workshops, and college and career readiness-related professional development.

Establish a strategic evidence-based approach to serving low income and first generation students in the region that leverages specialized programs (i.e., TRiO pre-college programs and community-based programs) in addition to extending outreach to students outside of established programs and engaging community partners already supporting these students.

Manage the Transition Academy program to ensure consistency, coherence, and quality implementation.

Other Duties:

Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
