Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, evening responsibilities as required.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by being responsible for outreach to secondary schools and community agencies to assist students in preparing for college and/or careers. Work is distinguished by the ability to focus on creating, planning, and implementing regional college and career readiness events and activities for the Community College District 509. General supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of  three years of professional experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Considerable skills in analyzing problems and developing creative and innovative solutions.
  3. Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  4. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  5. Considerable skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  6. Considerable skills in verbal and written communication.
  7. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  8. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Professional experience in secondary or post-secondary educational settings.
  2. Work experience with secondary students
  3. Bilingual in Spanish

Essential Duties:

  1. Plan and implement regional D509 college and career readiness events/activities in alignment with district/school initiatives identified through the Alliance for College and Career Student Success. This includes creating and conducting presentations, facilitating sessions led by internal/external partners, and compiling a resource bank for partner/student/family use. Event formats may include single topic sessions, multi-topic sessions, panels, large group interactive sessions, etc.
  2. Assist the Assistant Dean in assessing the impact of departmental programming and outreach. Provide support in data collection, analysis, and report writing. Research best practices in college and career development programming.
  3. Cultivate partnerships with community organizations focusing on providing support to D509 students with college and career readiness. Conduct outreach and/or connect the agency and its participants with existing ECC/district/school resources.
  4. Manage communications to provide information about college and career readiness opportunities, pre-college support program options, and community resources available. Respond to D509 student/family inquiries related to college and career readiness resources and information as needed.
  5. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  6. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  7. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  8. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  9. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality
