Test Support Engineer (24/7)

Mercedes HPP are seeking an experienced Test Support Engineer to permanently join our Brixworth based team. You'll be responsible for providing support to all of our Formula One and Hybrid Technical Centre’s Test Facilities, offering fast and effective resolution to issues. Important information: It is required that the individual will be able to do a continual 4 on 4 off (12 hr) shift basis. It will be expected for the successful applicant to work both the night and day shift, on a rotational basis.

If you're successful in this role, you'll…

  • Effectively provide first line technical fault knowledge and support for all the test facilities
  • Resolve and provide key solutions on electrical, mechanical and control issues that could arise with the breakdown of any engine, rig or battery test facility
  • Take accountability and resolve issues that may arise include problems with fluid conditioning systems (oil, water & fuel), electrical wiring issues, breakers, resets and software reconfigure on all ‘Testbed’ automation systems
  • Make decisive judgements on time sensitive and critical operational solutions by collaborating with the wider test teams, stakeholders and external suppliers
  • Support/lead Automation and Control System Project work i.e. new configuration for the Testbed control systems for a new test process (typically using/in the PUMA environment) or assisting in the design and implementation of a new test rig.

Be skilled at…

  • Using a wide variety of electrical, mechanical and software aspects of test facilities
  • Using PUMA 1.3/1.5 automation system operations and configuration

Have experience of…

  • Working with engine and rig test facilities
  • Management of Testbed automation and control
  • Electrical wiring and fault finding
  • Working in a high-class test environment with familiarity around Engine & Rig Test Beds

Demonstrate knowledge of…

  • The function and performance of F1 powertrain systems and components

Hold these qualifications…

  • Degree educated in a relevant engineering subject or an ability to demonstrate a high standard of Engineering experience and capability in the application of technology in a Test environment
