“Mercedes AMG HPP are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our world championship winning team at Brixworth.” To ensure that the PU operation is maximised within the defined envelope for the Power Unit's trackside life Work closely with the chassis partner to plan and manage the Power Unit within proven out limits and damage allocation, while providing the maximum performance available Away from the track, this position will work closely with the factory to confirm the Power Unit’s health in preparation for following events.

If you're successful in this role, you'll…

  • Attend all races and test events to maximise a car's potential by effective use of the Power Unit within reliability limits
  • Support the Team with pre-event preparation such as the Driver-in-the-Loop simulator
  • Monitor and call PU Safety State
  • Provide detailed feedback to the Performance, Validation and Product Engineering teams to confirm the Power Unit is operating within its designated envelope and have the ability to diagnose issues when required
  • Work closely with Chassis Engineer and Driver, to ensure correct trade-offs between Power Unit and Chassis are made
  • Support the performance and usage decisions for a Power Unit by providing data analysis and reports 

Therefore we need you to be skilled at…

  • Applying first principles to create practical engineering solutions
  • Taking ownership of the management of Power Unit calibration
  • Trouble shooting technically; creative way of problem solving
  • Using performance analysis tools and methods, such as lap simulation
  • Dealing with ambiguity under extreme pressure and still being decisive and considered

Have experience of…

  • Operating in a trackside environment, ideally running high performance engines and hybrid systems
  • Analysing data and interpreting it in short timescales

Demonstrate knowledge of…       

  • The operation of the full Power Unit Systems and their interaction with the vehicles.
  • Atlas and System Monitor

Hold these qualifications…

  • Degree with 2:1 classification or above in a relevant Engineering subject (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics)
