The manufacturing inspector has responsibility for investigating and undertaking a structured plan to meet inspection related queries and requests within the manufacturing quality area.

To Be successful in this role you...

  • Liaise with the Production team leaders and Manufacturing Quality Team Leader to establish workload and priority requirements whilst responding to changing requirements efficiently and effectively to ensure 100% on-time delivery.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all records during the Inspection process
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers through prompt attention to 1st off priorities and engine shortages.
  • Verify mechanical components to ensure parts meet specification by using all types of metrology equipment.
  • Carry out detailed Inspections and measurements of production samples.
  • Examine the finish of all parts to detect faulty finishing, damage, burrs or deterioration of surfaces etc.
  • Complete concession information and create reports/overview.
  • Communicate effectively with Manufacturing and the wider business where appropriate.
  • Maintain computerized records for the Inspection activities and any associated bookings within an ERP system.

Have experience of…

  • Inspection within a low volume high value precision Inspection environment.
  • Good understanding of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Using serial number tracking systems.
  • Structuring an approach to problem solving.
  • Operating coordinate measuring machines.  
  • Using standard Inspection equipment and reading engineering drawings

Demonstrate knowledge of…       

  • Operating knowledge of Romer laser arm and Polyworks software.
  • Operating knowledge of X-ray and CT Inspection techniques.
  • Basic / Intermediate CMM training course.

Hold these qualifications…

  • Craft Apprenticeship and/or Mechanical NVQ.   
  • HNC level or above Qualification.
  • Basic/Intermediate CMM training course
