Candidate expertise is sought in a wide variety of IT and data analytics areas, including but not limited to cybersecurity analytics; AI and algorithmic accountability; data ethics, management and governance; complex problem-solving and decision sciences. Candidates should have the appropriate academic background and expertise to teach courses and conduct research in security, privacy and trust, with particular skills and interests in teaching a team-based interdisciplinary capstone course.                                                                                                                                

The faculty position is part of broader university initiative in Tech for Humanity (https://www.provost.vt.edu/content/provost_vt_edu/en/destination_areas/tech-for-humanity.html) and is supported by the Data and Decisions (https://www.provost.vt.edu/destination_areas/areas_of_focus/da_dd.html) and Integrated Security (https://www.provost.vt.edu/destination_areas/areas_of_focus/da_is.html) Destination Areas. Destination Areas (DAs) are transdisciplinary communities at Virginia Tech working collaboratively to address complex problems that impact the human condition. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to engage in transdisciplinary research, curriculum, and/or outreach initiatives with other university faculty working in these Destination Areas. This position is specifically geared toward teaching the capstone course for the Integrated Security Destination Area.

Candidates must have completed a doctorate in Business Information Technology (BIT) or closely related field prior to the start date of the position, and have prior teaching experience.  In addition to strong evidence of effective teaching, a successful candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, an interest in developing and pursuing curricula and scholarly initiatives that consider issues of the human condition as a foundational element, and a strong interest in, and commitment to, working with diverse populations.  As a faculty member in the Pamplin College of Business, the candidate is also expected to pursue an active research program in top journals and participate in departmental, college and destination area activities.  Additional information about the Department of Business Information Technology can be found at www.bit.vt.edu.
