Job Description

The Biomaterials Theory Group led by Prof. Nadir Kaplan at Virginia Tech Department of Physics (Blacksburg, VA) invites applications for a postdoctoral or research associate position (commensurate with experience). The position will be in theoretical biophysics on continuum formulations of biological soft multiphase materials. We especially welcome applications from women, minorities, people with disabilities, and veterans. The start date is expected to be Spring 2020 and is negotiable. The appointment will be initially for one year and will be extended for an additional year subject to performance and availability of funding. Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate has expertise in developing theoretical and computational methods in elasticity, differential geometry, and/or fluid mechanics. Other requirements include the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a high degree of motivation and creativity. A Ph.D. or equivalent in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, materials science or related fields is required.
