Job Description

The Classroom AV Svcs Tech provides audiovisual support at the NVC Virginia Tech campus located in Falls Church, VA. This position serves as an extension of the Classroom Audiovisual Services (CAVS) team and reports to the CAVS Manager in Blacksburg, VA. This position follows the CAVS service based mission of providing reliable audiovisual solutions and technical support to faculty, staff, and students of Virginia Tech. This position maintains, operates, and monitors all the audiovisual equipment located inside the classrooms and in shared informal learning spaces. This position serves as the main point of audiovisual contact for the NVC Virginia Tech campus.

Required Qualifications

Considerable experience in supporting instruction based audio/visual and computer technologies in an education environment. Knowledge of all types of computers, software packages, and operating systems as applied to audiovisual systems. Advanced knowledge of the concepts, practices and procedures for converged computer and communications systems, systems integration and applications for administration and management. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to work effectively with team members, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community. Ability to safely move and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work from ladders and scaffolding as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education. Experience with use and programming of Crestron AV control systems. Possess an AVIXA CTS certificate. Advanced knowledge for unified communication concepts and converged technologies solutions such as, interactive and collaborative voice, video and data technologies. Experience with AV control systems and system integration. Basic knowledge of AV signal types such as VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, and audio, and how they are distributed throughout an AV system.
