Job Description

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Yes, home of the Hokie Bird!) is looking for a motivated, energetic, hard-working LVT to join our dedicated and compassionate team.

As an ICU technician, you will use and teach your valuable skills to future veterinarians, while providing compassionate, nursing care to our patients

     How you can help us:

             - Perform triage and patient assessments for our ICU patients

             - Venipuncture and catheter placement (peripheral, jugular, triple lumen)

              -Cystocentesis, urinary catheters, naso-gastric and naso-esophageal tubing

              -Oxygen therapies, chest tube management, mechanical ventilation

              -CPR, BP, ECGs, and other advanced, life-saving procedures related to ER/ICU medicine

     How we can help you:

              -Competitive salary - $45,000/yr minimum, to commensurate with experience

              -Eligible for overtime pay and shift differentials

 Required Qualifications

-Licensed or licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT). Knowledge of basic nursing skills and CPR; ability to place intravenous catheters; ability to understand and follow instructions; good interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to continue learning.

-Rabies prophylaxis is required (provided by employer).

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience in critical care nursing in a veterinary medical setting.

-VTS in Emergency & Critical Care
