Job Description

The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences (CLAHS) is seeking a Business Coordinator to provide fiscal, budgetary, human resource and other administrative support to various departments and centers. The ideal candidate for this position will have an agile mindset with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. The incumbent will work independently and as part of the CLAHS Business Office Team.

Fiscal and Budgetary Responsibilities
• Manage multiple budget lines by tracking spending, processing transfers, and performing monthly account reconciliations
• Post-award grant management
• Travel and Expense Reimbursements
• Accounts Payable Transactions
• Purchase requests for software licenses, instructional and research materials, furniture, equipment, computer hardware and software, repairs to equipment, research purchases, and additional items as needed.
• Manage the NIS requests and reconcile the monthly invoices
• Ensuring compliance with university financial protocols including records retention

Human Resources and Payroll Responsibilities
• Creating job postings and appointments
• Initiation and completion of all personnel transactions
• Manage wage employees including entering wage employees in Banner, tracking timeclock transactions and complete wage reconciliations
• Maintaining confidential faculty/staff personnel files

Required Qualifications

• Expertise in financial accounts management and financial software
• Knowledge of University, Commonwealth and Foundation policies and procedures relevant to financial & human resource transactions
• Experience with VT systems: VTF Banner, Banner 9, Microstrategy, Timeclock, Hokiemart, TEM, Summit and others.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task
• Ability to work independently
• Expertise with word processing and spreadsheet software
• Strong customer service, enthusiasm, and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally in a diverse, multicultural environment
• Experience preparing financial and budgetary reports

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with grant-writing, grant-application processes and post award management
