Job Description

The Engineering Education and Work-Based Learning (WBL) Programs Manager works in close collaboration with the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus Research Faculty and Director of Technical Education and Workforce Development in planning, designing, implementing and leading collaborative approaches to Engineering and CTE-focused programs for K-20 students (elementary through graduate school) and their teachers, families, and the community.

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree in a technical (STEM) field or relevant education field;
● Eligible for or working toward Virginia teacher licensure in one or more subject areas;
● Experience in secondary education or upper elementary education settings;
● Familiarity with schools and school systems in the Washington, D.C. metro area, and specifically DCPS and nearby Northern Virginia schools;
● Experience in innovation or maker space environments;
● Familiarity with electronics and programming and willingness to expand these skills;
● Experience in managing teams of secondary, post-secondary volunteers and research assistants; and
● Experience in STEM outreach and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

● Bilingual or multilingual skills, and experience in multicultural settings;
● Progress toward a terminal degree in STEM Education, Career and Technical Education, Higher Education Leadership or a relevant technical field;
● Current Virginia teacher licensure in one or more relevant STEM subject areas;
● Ten or more years of Experience in secondary education or upper elementary education settings;
● Employment in the Washington, D.C. area schools, and specifically DCPS and nearby Northern Virginia schools;
● Experience in managing innovation or maker space environments, or engineering laboratory settings; and
● Experience with electronics and programming and experience in teaching these skills.
