The Facilities Support Assistant is part of the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute's Facilities and Technical Operations team and reports to the institute's Associate Director for Facilities. The Facilities Support Assistant will receive and distribute all packages and mail for all Health Sciences and Technologies campus departments located in Roanoke, VA. The position will assist with outgoing shipments and is responsible for accepting, inspecting, stocking, and transferring deliveries. The candidate will also help set up the facilities for various public and internal events. The facilities assistant will assist with laboratory setup and troubleshoot and coordinate the repair of laboratory equipment, such as biosafety cabinets, centrifuges, incubators, vacuum pumps, and other instrumentation. The position will assists with Regulated Medical waste disposal and laboratory recycling program.
Additionally, the position will be responsible for assembling, relocating, and managing office and laboratory furniture inventory. The candidate must pay close attention to detail and have strong organizational and communication skills. A successful candidate needs to multitask effectively, maintaining the progression of several projects at a time.

Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
