About the department / center:

The School of Music at the University of Delaware provides over 300 public-facing performance opportunities throughout the year. Events within the School of Music range from academic required student recitals to large Jazz Ensemble concerts. A position with the School of Music Events Team provides staff with the opportunity to develop their customer service and technical skillset to diverse audiences ranging up to 400 attendees.

Role Description:

Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the Technical Assistant is responsible for managing audiovisual technology needs for School of Music events and performances in the Center for the Arts, Bayard Sharp Hall, and Amy E. Dupont Music Building.

In this position you will...

  • Learn and operate production technology in public performance venues
  • Collaborate with performers and other event staff to execute events
  • Develop effective leadership and troubleshooting skill sets

Major Responsibilities

  • Execute the setup and teardown of audiovisual equipment, including microphones, PA speaker systems, stage monitors, etc.
  • Produce high quality audio and visual recordings of School of Music events
  • Operate installed venue mixing consoles and PA systems to deliver live sound reinforcement
  • Provide technical support for School of Music live streams
  • Work closely with the Technical Supervisor to prepare for upcoming events

Education, Experience, and Abilities

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
  • Experience with Logic Pro or other digital audio software required
  • Knowledge of recording technology and/or event production required if yes please explain
