The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of the Office of Multicultural Student Services. This position coordinates various recognized cultural heritage celebrations that highlight the importance of embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the University community. The Assistant Director assists the Director in the implementation of departmental initiatives that support student development, retention, belonging, and participates in daily operations of the department. Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, human services, general business or a related field. Two years experience working in a diversity/minority or multicultural related position.
Secretary Level 3 Big Rapids, MI 49307
This position includes duties such as: providing responsible independent secretarial support, selection, training, and supervision of student workers, and assist in the day-to-day operations of the Personal Counseling Center. Required: Satisfactory completion of two years college or equivalent. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of full-time related work experience equals one year of education. Two years full-time secretarial work experience to include advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, office supervisory responsibility, and interacting with the community where tact, diplomacy, and problem solving are required.
Adjunct Instructor 3 - Criminal Justice (9 Mo full time temp) Big Rapids, MI 49307
This two-year, full time temporary position has the primary responsibility of teaching law courses in the School of Criminal Justice program in person on the main campus in Big Rapids. Courses will include Criminal Law and Procedure as well as Corrections Law as specified by the Michigan Correctional Officers Training Council (MCOTC). Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest. Required: Must possess a Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school. Be an active member of the Michigan Bar. Must have at least five years' experience in U.S. Criminal Law with experience in district, circuit, and family law courts.
Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies Big Rapids, MI 49307
Ferris State University’s Department of Humanities seeks applications for an Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Religious Studies. The selected candidate will teach a variety of courses in Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics. Other teaching assignments in the Department's “Humanities Area,” will be based upon the candidate's teaching credentials, which may include; African American Studies, Humanities Studies, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and/or other closely related fields. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or online. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The start date for this position is August 2025. Required: Ph.D. in Philosophy (or ABD with Ph.D. completion by August 1, 2025), and graduate coursework in Religious Studies and/or the Philosophy of Religion, OR Ph.D. in in Religious Studies and/or the Philosophy of Religion (or ABD with Ph.D., degree completion by August 1, 2025), and graduate coursework in Philosophy. Demonstrated expertise in Religious Studies and/or the Philosophy of Religion. Demonstrated expertise in Philosophy. Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time. Demonstrated expertise in Ethics.
Adjunct Instructor 1 - Surveying Engineering Big Rapids, MI 49307
Adjunct Instructors needed to teach courses in the Surveying Engineering program. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester, by semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is February 2025 at the earliest and August 2025 at the latest. Required: Bachelor's degree in the discipline. Professional Surveyors License (current or expired but not revoked). 3 years of professional work experience and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
