Adjunct Instructor - Geography (Part-time, Temporary)	Big Rapids, MI 49307	6 Feb 2027
The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education seeks applicants to provide instruction for a variety of face-to-face and online Geography courses on the Big Rapids, MI campus. Needs vary from semester to semester and may include introductory courses in World Regional Geography, Cultural Geography, Weather and Climate, Physical Geography, and GIS as well as upper-level courses as determined by instructor qualification and departmental needs. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person at Ferris State University's Big Rapids campus and potentially online. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after being accepted for employment. The anticipated start dates for these positions are August 2026 or January 2027, depending on departmental needs. The selected candidate for this position must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire without employer assistance or sponsorship now or in the future. The university will not assist with any F1 EAD’s, OPT, H1B, etc. Required: Master's degree in Geography; GIS, Physical Geography, or Human Geography specialties within the master’s degree may apply for some courses. Higher education teaching experience.
Carpenter/Locksmith	Big Rapids, MI 49307
Perform skilled trades work in locksmithing and carpentry on University owned buildings and furnishings. The normal working hours are typically 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. However, may be required to work other times, including evenings and/or weekends including responding to emergency calls. If required by job duties, employee must be able to fulfill the University's requirements concerning issuance and use of University keys. Personnel who possess the special qualifications and training necessary for this position may apply. Required: High school diploma or GED equivalency. Valid driver’s license. Will be required to obtain locksmith certification and training within one year from date of hire. Completion of a carpenter apprenticeship program, or at least six years of a combination of residential and/or commercial construction experience to include new framing, renovation, repairs, replacements, and furniture installation.
Grounds Worker Applicator	Big Rapids, MI 49307
Perform independent maintenance and repair of campus grounds, roads, walks, plant life, irrigation systems, and grounds equipment using approved environmental and ecological practices. Normal working hours are M-F, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. This position may require availability to work other shifts, weekends, and evenings, including overtime and responding to emergency calls. If required by job duties, the employee must be able to fulfill the University requirements concerning the issuance and use of University keys. Required: High school diploma or GED equivalency. Valid driver's license. Valid (current) State of Michigan Pesticide Application License Category (Core, 3A, 3B). Three years full-time equivalent landscape maintenance and landscape construction functions as performed in a residential and/or commercial setting. Commercial pesticide spray experience.
Academic Advisor, Assistant Professor	Multiple Locations
The Academic Advisor, Assistant Professor, provides academic advising for students in the College of Engineering Technology programs. This includes assisting students in the development of academic plans and course schedules, advising on academic program changes, and meeting with prospective students and their families. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with summer orientation and registration, responding to inquiries regarding programs, and maintaining timely communication with students. The anticipated start date for this position is September 2026; however, this is an estimate and may be revised if needed.

The College of Business at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants to teach undergraduate courses in at least one of the following disciplines: management, lean, or supply chain management, via face-to-face and/or mixed delivery. The College of Business is dedicated to providing a learning experience that instills in its students the knowledge, competencies, and skills for entry-level employment and career advancement in their chosen careers. To facilitate this, faculty are expected to be student-oriented and able to integrate current technology into the learning environment. Office hours are required: one per week for each course taught. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's campuses or an approved FSU site. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.
