Adjunct Instructor - French or Spanish Multiple Locations
The English, Literature, and World Languages Department seeks applications for adjunct faculty members hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach at our main Big Rapids campus and other Michigan locations. The English, Literature, and World Languages Department will contact potential applicants when there are available openings. Teaching and related responsibilities include but are not limited to: teaching introductory, intermediate, or advanced Spanish or French language courses using face-to-face, mixed, and/or online modes of delivery. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis for Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027. This posting is being used for face to face and/or online instruction. Courses taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. Courses that are taught 100% online. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan*, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment and the duration of time performing services for Ferris State University. Please note that if you relocate after being hired to a state not listed above, your employment with Ferris will not continue. * Please note if you reside in Michigan, the position will be part of the Ferris Non-Tenure Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO). Academic Advisor, Assistant Professor Big Rapids, MI 49307
This position, located on the Big Rapids campus, will serve as the primary contact for prospective and enrolled students in the College of Health Professions, including online and on-campus undergraduate programs. Assisting students with program requirements, program planning, processing course substitutions, and maintaining accurate student records are the primary responsibilities of this position. Attending recruiting events and scheduling/attending other student informational sessions to answer program questions and increase student enrollments will also be required, primarily within Michigan. Ability to work evenings and /or some weekends to meet the needs of students. Travel is required. The anticipated start date of this position is June 2026. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.
Assistant/Associate Professor - College of Optometry (12 mos. Tenure-track) Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. The candidate will be expected to develop in the areas of patient care, didactic teaching, advising, scholarly/professional activities, and service and will be responsible for teaching primarily in clinic, with additional responsibilities in the laboratory and classroom. Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students; faculty are expected to be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment. Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement. Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and be willing to mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role. In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees. Online teaching could be required but primarily, courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at the Big Rapids location. Hall Director Big Rapids, MI 49307
Hall Director- Housing and Residence Life– Ferris State University. Provide comprehensive supervision of 1-3 residence halls (typically two). Hall Directors recruit, train, supervise, and mentor residence hall staff, 6-17 Resident Advisors, 1-3 Senior Staff Advisors and 15-30 front desk and night security personnel; actively participate on departmental and university-wide committees, manage facilities, advise Hall Council; train RA staff to advise House Councils; coordinate programming/community development and provide overall leadership in the academic, social and emotional development of students. In addition, Hall Directors serve as conduct hearing officers recommending educational outcomes up to and including dismissal from the university.
