LCRA Environmental Affairs is seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator for the Environmental Permitting and Compliance team. The Environmental Coordinator will lead U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans and storm water permitting efforts for LCRA water supply infrastructure projects and effectively communicate compliance requirements to LCRA project engineers, operations, and outside contractors. The successful candidate will develop applications for environmental permitting, regulatory filings and environmental plans and procedures. The successful candidate is an analytical thinker and flexible problem-solver with an ability to balance competing demands, maintain strong attention to detail and build consensus. The Environmental Coordinator II utilizes independent judgment and discretion when tackling complex situations in order to deliver solutions that are compliant and customer focused.

You will be trusted to:

  • Manage environmental permitting and compliance for complex water resource construction and maintenance projects throughout Texas. This will include ensuring compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineering regulations, state water quality rules, endangered species requirements, local municipal and county regulations, and other resource planning and permitting requirements relevant in Texas.
  • Plan, prepare, and oversee preparation of deliverables related to environmental permitting and compliance for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Provide environmental consultation and serve as an environmental resource for LCRA staff. Participate on various internal working groups and committees as necessary. Interpret regulatory requirements and develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance and manage impacts to environmental and operational activities. Prepare and present environmental training topics to internal staff.
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies as necessary. May represent the LCRA in external professional associations; before regulatory bodies; local governments; and/or civic organizations as required.
  • Participate in the research, development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures to accommodate new or changed environmental regulations and/or LCRA operations.
  • Perform complex site assessments, including evaluations of permitting and compliance implications for water resource development or infrastructure projects, and environmental impact and risk assessments of current and proposed facility operations and activities.

You qualify with:

  • Six or more years of experience in assessment, interpretation, implementation or administration of environmental regulations, programs or policies, including experience with preparing technical reports and communicating with regulatory agencies. 
  • A degree(s) in environmental science, chemistry, wildlife biology, geology, ecological management, conservation science, business, engineering, risk management or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.  
  • Driver's license
