At LCRA, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Plant Chemistry Specialist to join our generation department. Be the force behind the grid. As an LCRA Generation chemist, you’re on the front lines of reliability, keeping the lights on and the power flowing for all of Central Texas! This pivotal role provides an opportunity to guide and/or advise others on boiler water/steam cycle chemistry oversight, compliance with industry guidelines (EPRI / IAPWS). Key duties include oversight in cooling water system, corrosion generation and transport rates, water treatment systems, performance metrics, boiler chemical cleaning and pretreatment of water supply. Additionally, you will be a key contact for chemical vendors for the power plant chemistry programs affecting fossil generation. Apply today and join our team!
You will be trusted to:
- Analyze operational problems, provide root cause of process chemistry upsets, and recommend solutions and appropriate corrective practices and actions. - Participate in Boiler / HRSG chemical condition assessment, water treatment equipment maintenance assessment, and other related equipment assessments. Maintain a boiler condition scorecard for LCRA boilers / HRSG’s using industry best practices. - Monitor Flue Gas Desulfurization equipment performance. - Interpret analytical results of short-term and long-term trends and of collected sample results. - Provide experienced assistance in water chemistry and water treatment system equipment research, procurement, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. - Advise plant teams based on data and/or expert consultation and problem solving. - Oversee specialty chemical vendor expectations and results at plant sites.
You qualify with:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or relevant scientific field plus four or more years of experience in any combination of water/wastewater treatment, water analysis, condensate polishing, fossil fuel analysis, boiler condition assessment, flue gas desulfurization, environmental compliance for fossil fuel power plant applications or other relevant experience. - Advanced degree(s) in chemistry, engineering or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience. - Driver’s license
