Engineering Intern II Austin, TX 78744
LCRA Transmission Reliability Engineering (TRE) group is seeking an intern for the summer of 2021. As an intern in TRE, you will work under the direction of the group's engineers while they strive to continuously improve the reliability of the electrical grid. You will be exposed to high voltage environments and equipment including breakers, transformers, switches, capacitor banks, gas monitors, and more. Our engineers respond to equipment issues and provide critical judgment in situations that have a direct effect on Texan's access to electricity. The ideal intern candidate has not only an interest in utility and substation but a passion for improving the electrical grid and reliability. Preference for majors including electrical and power engineering, but other engineering majors are open to consideration.

Data Center Administrator Sr Austin, TX 78703
At a senior level, administers data center management software, tape backup software and rack KVM system. Monitors data center environment and rack power. Maintains and orders proper level of data center supplies (cables, backup tapes, power strips, KVM switches, KMM units, etc.). Coordinates equipment installations with various IT departments and determines appropriate location for equipment to be installed in the data centers. This position utilizes in-depth knowledge of best practices and experience in own discipline to provide and improve services. Takes a new perspective to solve complex problems. Pumping Operator Bay City, TX
Works as a team member of a regional pump crew to operate and maintain pumping plants, relifts, irrigation dams and water wells in Colorado, Wharton and Matagorda counties for a large industrial irrigation operation. Operates equipment, troubleshoots, performs routine maintenance on equipment and facilities and completes daily written documentation. Maintains communication with the River Operations Control Center (ROCC) and Hydro Operations Control Center (HOCC) regarding river levels and changes in river conditions. During irrigation season may work independently with minimal supervision.  Operates, maintains and monitors irrigation pumps using manual and SCADA system controls, as required. Performs pump overhauls involving disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly to ensure efficient operations.  Maintains facilities, irrigation dams, buildings, electric motors and switchgear by performing painting, concrete, plumbing, electrical, piping, welding, carpentry and mowing tasks, as required.  Coordinates water orders with pumping demand to determine the most efficient pump combination. Calculates, adjusts and controls water demand levels to manage customer orders. Determines and sets return flows to meet system demands.  Completes daily operations logs, routine reports and charts. Prepares and maintains documentation of records and logs to include hourly readings, plant alarms, equipment availability and trouble reports.  Operates handheld manual tools and power tools (e.g., rock saws and cut-off saws) in performing repair and maintenance tasks.  Operates and transports heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, dump truck, small excavator and large excavator) in performing repair and maintenance tasks.  Ensures equipment is maintained and makes arrangements for major repairs and overhaul as needed. 

This position will be promoted to Trans System Operator upon achievement of NERC certification and completion of the LCRA System Operator training program.
Nav & Waterway Mgmt Tech II Marble Falls, TX
The LCRA’s Water Surface Management group is looking for a Navigation and Waterway Management Technician who will assist in water safety operations on seven LCRA managed lakes and downstream dams on the Colorado River. Duties include deploying buoys and barrier float security systems using a boat mounted crane and ensure they are proper maintained. The Technician will also perform water hazard management activities such as boat dock inventories, removal of hazards to navigation, removal and dismantling of docks, and assisting other departments with waterborne activities. Technician level 1 or 2 will be assigned based on the candidate’s experience. Our ideal candidate will have a strong river, sea or military experience working in all types of weather and water conditions. Must be able to handle boats up to 28 feet in length during extremely swift water and flood debris conditions. Highly proficient in waterway rules. Demonstrates experience in operating hydraulic crane equipment, and knowledge of rigging using wire rope and poly rope while waterborne. Taking initiative, being a team player, and following all safety, environmental and departmental policies, and procedures is highly desired. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to travel within the LCRA service area to various work sites (overnight travel accommodations provided as needed).
