Salary: $58,000-$62,000

Department Summary & Job Purpose:

The Creative Assets Manager has primary responsibility for producing creative content (videography, photography, animation, and illustration) for the College, partnering with Communications and Marketing staff and other departments to deliver on-brand, on-message content that engages audiences across digital channels and print communications. The Creative Assets Manager demonstrates initiative and versatility in pitching ideas for projects that support institutional messaging goals and content strategies while also serving as the first point of contact for photography/videography and digital media requests made to the Office of Communications & Marketing. This position is hybrid with a minimum of two days on-campus each week; however, due to the nature of the work, local proximity to the College is required with the expectation that additional time in person may be needed periodically.

 

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as creative lead for photography and videography. 
  • Help position Mount Holyoke to be a leader in the digital marketing space among peer institutions. 
  • Act as a key member of Communications and Marketing’s creative team, responsible for producing multimedia content for campus partners and advancing the College's marketing efforts. 
  • Serve as the primary visual storyteller for the people and programs that illustrate the College's identity and its brand promise. Execute fresh and compelling stories through video, motion graphics, audio, still images, and text. 
  • Under the direction of the Director of Strategic Content, ensure that all video and photo deliverables meet visual brand standards and push the envelope creatively. 
  • Responsible for producing a variety of photo/video content for a wide range of campus partners as well as the Communications' efforts. 
  • Develop ongoing relationships with campus partners to enhance annual deliverables and ensure client satisfaction continually.
  • Stay on top of the industry and social media video trends.
  • Work with strategic marketing team-members to produce videos geared for social media. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Content to visually integrate video and photo assets into large-scale marketing campaigns. 
  • Oversee every element of the production process for video projects. Create video production systems and strategies to streamline video production on a tight timeline with limited resources. 
  • Juggle multiple video projects at once that are often in different stages of production. 
  • In charge of hiring, training, and mentoring student videographers. 
  • Build and manage a roster of external vendors. In charge of outsourcing video when needed and managing external resources. Work closely with vendors to ensure high production and brand standards are met for all outsourced projects. 
  • Purchase and maintain production equipment. Build equipment inventory and organizational systems. Stay current with new camera technology and software.
  • Build and maintain video archiving and backup system and networked footage library. 
  • Organize, grow, and maintain Mount Holyoke’s institutional YouTube channel. Work closely with Assistant Director of Digital Communications to ensure that the YouTube channel aligns with MHC’s overall social media strategy. 

Qualifications: • 5-7 years of experience producing and editing digital content for use across online and offline channels, with a solid knowledge of photo, video, and audio standards.
• Creativity and well-developed yet flexible aesthetic sensibilities, with a demonstrated facility in producing work within a broad range of formats, styles, tones, and techniques. Ability to identify and embrace the design elements that form the College’s brand identity and incorporate them into project workflow.
• Solid project management skills and familiarity with project management/tracking tools, with the ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a personal production and meeting calendar, multitask, and prioritize assignments while under tight deadlines.
• Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite and non-linear editing applications such as Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro, as well as a strong familiarity with and use of digital content environments/services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr, and all social media platforms.
• Creative and technical proficiency in the field and on-set production techniques (lighting, camera operation, sound recording); experience with storyboarding and scriptwriting.
• Exceptional interviewing, interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as strong writing skills, including ability to use language accurately and creatively.
• Ability to adapt to new working environments and cultivate relationships with students, staff, and faculty. Experience working in a culturally diverse environment is essential.
• Ability to travel and work outside of normal business hours for both on and off-campus shoots as required
• Understanding of copyright laws and issues
• Ability to apply SEO metadata to support the storage and retrieval of digital content
• Graphic/web design and/or motion graphics production experience a plus
• Possesses a sense of humor and can carry on foot photography equipment and gear over various terrains in any season.

• Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. • Employee operates office equipment and computers to perform essential duties and responsibilities.

Working Conditions: 

• The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
• Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Activities occur inside and outside environments.
