University College provides services and programs designed to assist students with their transition to Illinois State University. PACs are successful college students who help peers develop and refine their approaches to learning and studying. PACs are trained by University College to provide individualized support to students at any point in their academic journey.
Duties will include:
- Meet regularly with students
- Assist students in creating effective schedules to balance academic and personal responsibilities
- Monitor students’ progress towards short- and long-term goals
- Guide students on study skills, test preparation, note taking methods, and textbook reading strategies
- Analyze potential barriers to success and how to navigate around them
- Connect students to campus resources
- Maintain accurate appointment notes and privacy of student information
- Must have an overall GPA of at least a 2.8 and at least 24 hours earned at Illinois State
- Must be available to work two semesters in a row
- Must have a strong understanding of campus resources and services
- Must be in good standing with Illinois State University as it relates to student conduct
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and professional demeanor. Additional skills or experiences that are desired include: strong interpersonal skills; mentoring peers in an educational setting; comfort in working with individuals with different backgrounds and identities.
Between the hours of 9:00am – 9:00pm Monday-Thursday; 9:00am-4:30pm on Friday; and 4:00-8:00pm on Sunday. Position occasionally requires work beyond regular hours for special events and activities.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
In addition, all appointments are contingent upon proof of eligibility for employment at Illinois State University to perform the required duties described above on your scheduled start date. Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held.
International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session, but may work more when the university is not in session.
