  • Full Time, 35 hours per week
  • Temporary up to 12 months
  • Location: Willing to consider candidates across all NSW locations. Preference will be given to candidates based regionally, with a focus on Queanbeyan, Armidale, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour
  • Legal Officer Grade 4 – Salary from $144,058 up to $146,831 per annum (FTE) plus super and leave loading

About the Role
The Senior Legal Officer provides expert legal advice in the areas of commercial and property law, legislation and advice or litigation across the department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. This role involves drafting key legal documents, proactively identifying and managing legal risk, and building client relationships to ensure the Department's strategic objectives are met, all while addressing complex issues under tight deadlines.

About You
As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Eligibility to hold a current practising certificate in NSW
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of administrative law, commercial law, property law, legislative reform, litigation, or native title
  • Proven ability to draft complex legal  documents
  • Strong record of proactive legal risk management and developing practical solutions
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume, challenging workloads.

A recruitment pool may be created for ongoing and temporary roles of the same role or role type that may become available for filling over the next eighteen months.
