About the role

NSW Public Works (NSW PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports many different local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

This entry level Project Manager role will form part of our Greater Sydney team working in the Parramatta Office.  The role contributes as part of a multi-disciplinary team by assisting senior Project Managers with the planning, advisory and delivery of infrastructure projects across NSW.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts, and construction or design work. You will need to meet the following essential requirements which can be found in the role description, and below:

  • Appropriate university qualifications. In architecture, building, project management, civil engineering or similar relevant qualification
  • Preferably some professional project management, construction or design experience
  • Preferably some contract administration experience, including consultant contracts or construction contracts
  • A high degree of enthusiasm and drive, with a strong desire to assist in delivering positive outcomes as part of a team
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Project)
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Current NSW Driver Licence with flexibility and willingness to travel to NSW regional towns, which may include overnight stays.

As a NSW Public Works Project Manager you will be expected to manage and contribute to the planning and delivery of building and civil infrastructure projects and ensure time, cost, quality, safety and environment targets and corporate expectations are met.  Our Project Managers are responsible for the management and administration of design and construction contracts, including claims evaluation and negotiation.

The role provides an exciting chance to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and participate in business development activities, contributing towards opportunities for repeat and new business.
