• The School Preparedness Specialist is responsible for providing programmatic coordination, development, implementation, and planning of the School Preparedness Program. • The School Preparedness Program supports school communities statewide in promoting safe and effective learning environments that account for the needs of the whole school community through all phases of emergency management, including the mental and physical well-being and safety of students. Frequent in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position. The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

This position manages a staff charged with licensing, monitoring, inspecting, and enforcing statutes and rules for emergency medical care technicians (EMCTs), EMCT training programs, base hospitals, trauma centers, air and ground ambulance organizations, and vehicles. Oversee the collection and analysis of data from EMS agencies and trauma hospitals, developing public health and quality improvement reports, managing, and encouraging participation in EMS and trauma quality improvement initiatives, and facilitating and managing three statutory advisory bodies and standing committees on behalf of ADHS.
