Under the general supervision of a Lieutenant, this position is responsible for the design and direction of a state-wide employee development and training program. Oversees special projects and groups, coordinates department field training programs, assists department staff with individual training plans and makes recommendations for training. Ensures compliance with the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) continuing and/or proficiency training. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records of the work performed and training hours; prepares clear and concise reports to monitor the success of the training program; creates related written materials.
Background check and in and out of State travel is required.
Identify training needs and opportunities; schedule training events, plans, oversees, coordinates department field training programs to include developing, implementing, teaching training curriculum statewide.
Assists in identifying and resolving problems related to training issues.
Counsels, instructs, trains and evaluates subordinates in proper work methods and requirements; reviews work of subordinates, remains informed of their performance, ensures compliance to required duties; makes planner entries and reviews performance progress with subordinates; schedules and assigns work to subordinates.
Evaluates training officers, training specialists, personnel analysts or other personnel engaged in planning, coordinating, conducting and evaluating employee development programs.
Tracks employee training hours; updates and maintains training records through PowerDMS.
Assist Division Leadership by providing executive level support and oversight.
Coordinate and research multiple division projects operations with all levels of management. Supervising special projects and groups, creating documents, spreadsheets and briefs to be presented to Leadership.
Minimum of four years law enforcement experience, investigative/audit experience, skills, qualifications and training to regularly audit police records, processes, procedures and work well with others to ensure members are following and applying policy and procedures accurately.
Certified instructor in the following areas: Physical Fitness, TASER and Defensive Tactics.
- Must be a current or former certified AZ peace officer.
- Must be AZPOST General Instructor Certified.
- Must be a Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) recognized Firearms Instructor.
- Valid Driver's License.
