The ADJC, along with its dedicated professionals, are responsible for young people who are committed to its jurisdiction by county juvenile courts, as well as the administration of the Interstate Commission for Juveniles. Our agency is committed to promoting public safety by providing effective evidence-based rehabilitation for young people with multiple needs, including mental health and medical care. This includes providing developmentally appropriate treatment, pro-social activities, and education and career training. Through collaboration with various partners, we ensure continuity of these services for young people as they transition back to their communities. ADJC operates and maintains a secure care facility for the custody of youth who pose a threat to public safety, who have engaged in a pattern of conduct characterized by persistent and delinquent offenses that, as demonstrated through the use of other alternatives, cannot be controlled in a less secure setting or who have had their conditional liberty revoked pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) § 41‑2819. Each youth who is placed in our secure care facility shall receive rehabilitative services appropriate to the youth's age, needs and abilities, including education, counseling, mental health services, recreation and vocational training. |
