This position is hybrid and may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Responds to Helpdesk tickets submitted by users via telephone, email, or online requests
  • Provides Level 1 and Level 2 support and troubleshooting to the agency's users, coordinating with Senior Helpdesk Staff and Systems Administrators, escalating for most effective support and results
  • Deploys PC hardware, peripherals, networked and standalone multifunction printer/copier devices in local and remote offices, handling large deployments requiring some physical equipment assembly, hardware asset tagging and inventory control, and onsite configuration requiring any available IT staff
  • Receives equipment from agency vendors and offices, preparing it for deployment, fix, refurbishment, salvage, and/or cannibalization, with effective inventory control and tracking
  • Works directly with Service Desk Analysts and Systems Administrators to solve complex issues related to system connectivity, web servers, application servers and databases, firewalls, routing, VPN connectivity, and local PC and user Issues
  • Plans and researches new hardware, software, and business solution technologies, making recommendations to IT management
  • Executes Implementation under the System Administrator's (or CIO's) direction
  • Utilizes server and application backup/archive solutions and resources to restore/recover end user data and restore server instances and application data, all under the guidance of the Systems Administrators
  • May assist the Senior Systems Administrator in the following: Active Directory Domain mgmt, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Editor, Office365 hosted Exchange, Agency email archive, Active Directory Federation Services and AD Sync, ESXi host/guests, Hyper-V hosts/guests, firewall services and applications, TracklT (IT asset5 tracking management), agency intranet (Google Sites or other), SNMP monitoring solution, Internet content and protection solutions, remote client VPN solutions, system/disk imaging solution, and Linux services, IPSEC and OpenVPN, Postfix, FTP solutions, Apache, SSH secure tunnel, or other protocols and pathways
  • May assist in the implementation of network/system design/expansion plans, manages AD sites, subnets, OUs, VPN connections and configuration, VLAN security
  • Contributes to the selects and configuration of Dell PowerEdge servers/storage/racks/power
  • Installs Active Directory and Hyper-V Services for agency locations. Serves as project contributor for new server/rack and PC deployments
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Configure, install, and repair PC hardware and software
  • Windows 10/11, Office 2013/2016/2019, Adobe Pro & Acrobat Reader
  • Dell OptiPlex & Latitude PC/laptop support
  • Network printer/copier configuration
  • Effective Helpdesk Process Experience
  • Secondary/Backup Knowledge: Email user management, server administration,
  • Windows server administration: Server 2019 and beyond
  • Microsoft Active Directory administration (user setup, teardown)

Skill in:

  • Strong IT customer service skills with positive attitude and calm temperament
  • Clear, concise, diplomatic, timely, and responsive written and oral communication skills
  • Effective training/instructing skills (mostly 1 on 1 with users), but also keeping team members current on personal tasking order and progress
  • Intermediate or better troubleshooting skills, including walking users of various skill levels through problem duplication, discovery, and application of solutions
  • Creative problem-solving skills within business time and budget constraints
  • Educating end-users in appropriate solution selection and usage
  • Researching, reading, and interpreting a wide variety of technical computing and network data

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate effectiveness at multi-tasking
  • Collaborate in teams across agency, other state agencies, including service and supply vendors
  • Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly, updating written team SOP
  • Build strong relationships inside and outside the agency
  • Develop and write/update technical documentation as required (samples are a plus)
  • Remain focused on task; demonstrated ability to work for long periods of time alone or independently, including effective personal time management to support a hybrid schedule
Selective Preference(s):
  • Associate Degree plus experience in Information Technology, IT Helpdesk, end-user computing support, Systems Administration, or equivalent experience
  • Military service based IT training and experience
  • MCSA/Microsoft certification, certifications from recognized IT industry leaders in hardware or training (e.g. Cisco, VMWare, Apple, Avaya, Redhat), or other relevant coursework/certifications
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment; Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
