| The Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) functions in a highly professional setting similar to a private law office. This position works semi-autonomously while acting collegially with fellow ALJs; coordinates with the case management supervisor, the executive assistants and the case management team. The ALJ must exercise the necessary decorum and project the level of professionalism necessary to cultivate respect for the Office administrative tribunals similar to the judicial courts. This position is responsible for managing a demanding caseload of hearings across a wide spectrum of subject matter for multiple state agencies, boards and commissions (agencies) requiring knowledge of the various and relevant state and federal statutes and administrative codes for those multiple agencies; prepares and issues timely orders and administrative decisions within statutory guidelines and Office policy. Decisions will have the potential to be final agency actions. The ALJ must complete special assignments as directed by the Director/Chief Presiding Administrative Law Judge or Assistant Presiding Administrative Law Judge. The ALJ must observe substantive and procedural policies of the Office and timely complete continuing legal education assignments. |
