CLIA LABORATORY COMPLIANCE OFFICER 2

| Performs work corresponding to the activities within the Laboratory Licensure and Certification Office. Assists or determines the issuing of licenses to laboratories (Clinical) by ensuring the minimum standards of proficiency, methodology, quality assurance, operation and safety. Conducts initial and periodic inspections of laboratories and facilities to determine compliance with the Federal Code of Regulations, state Statutes or Rules. Review of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Conducts investigations of the operation of a licensed laboratory upon receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed laboratory performing compliance testing.
This position is required to perform work at/attend meetings at alternate locations and/or travel (in and out of state) when necessary, possibly requiring a state, personal or rented vehicle.
Corresponds with the regulated lab community or with regulatory bodies, responds to technical questions from the laboratories, development of standards, rule making and laboratory inspections. Perform, assist or review detailed investigative or inspection reports, statements of deficiencies, and correspondence regarding changes in the status of a laboratory's certification, or other types of legal orders. |

| Performs work corresponding to the activities within the Quality Assurance and Improvement Office, and the Laboratory Licensure and Certification Office. Assists or determines the issuing of licenses to laboratories (Medical Marijuana, Environmental, Clinical). Maintaining current licenses (EPA, CLIA, ISO/IEC) for ASPHL by ensuring the minimum standards of proficiency, methodology, quality assurance, operation and safety, and ensuring compliance. Conducts initial and annual inspections of laboratories, to determine compliance with the Statutes or Rules. Review of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Conducts investigations of the operation of a licensed laboratory upon receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed laboratory performing compliance testing. |

NEWBORN SCREENING LABORATORY OFFICE CHIEF SENIOR

| This position, which reports to the Newborn Screening Program Assistant Bureau Chief, is responsible for management oversight of all activities associated with the laboratory and demographic departments within the Newborn Screening Program. The Newborn Screening Office Chief is responsible for assuring that all procedures and protocols are conducted according to the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory policies and according to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines. This position fulfills the role as Technical Supervisor for the sub-specialties of Chemistry, Hematology, and Endocrinology under CLIA regulations. This position is in charge of workload review, policy establishment, technical guidance, lab safety, and all aspects of quality assurance including procedural manual reviews, staff training, internal and external proficiency reviews, and equipment preventive maintenance. Responsibilities also encompass management of program budgets to include budget preparation and approval of supplies and equipment purchases. This position will participate in writing of grant proposals and is accountable for grant deliverables as it relates to laboratory testing. |
